Google Analytics and optional Clarity
Google Analytics 4 runs by default, unless you have disabled it, to help us understand how visitors find and use this website and which photography guides are useful. The information may include pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type, referring source, clicks, scrolling, and interaction timing. We configure advertising storage, ad user data, and ad personalization as denied.
You can disable Google Analytics at any time through Cookie settings. Disabling it prevents future collection on this site after the page reloads and removes the first-party analytics cookies available to this site. A page view sent before you disable it may already have been processed by Google.
Microsoft Clarity is separate and remains off unless you explicitly enable it in Cookie settings. If enabled, Clarity helps us understand clicks, scrolling, and website interaction through heatmaps and privacy-masked session replays. These replays reconstruct website interactions; they are not camera or microphone recordings. We use them to improve photography guides and navigation, not to record Gumroad checkout or payment details.
Clarity uses masking for sensitive content, and we explicitly mask forms on this website. Masking is not a guarantee that every possible personal detail is removed. Please do not enter sensitive information into this website or its URLs.
Changing these settings is not required to read our guides or get the free preset. Review or change them anytime in Cookie settings.
Cookies and local storage
Google Analytics may set identifiers such as _ga, and enabled Clarity may set _clck and _clsk. These services may also use their own cookies under their policies. Identifiers help distinguish visits and connect page interactions into a session.
We store the Google Analytics setting under tokyograin-analytics-v1 and the Clarity setting under tokyograin-clarity-v1. A previous explicit rejection under tokyograin-consent-v1 or tokyograin-consent-v2-ga-clarity remains respected as an opt-out. A previous explicit acceptance of the combined setting continues to enable Clarity until changed.
If a setting cannot be saved, the current page remains available, but the choice may not be remembered on another visit.
Retention and service providers
Google processes analytics data under its own terms and privacy notice. Retention depends on the type of data and the applicable Google Analytics settings.
Microsoft processes Clarity data under its own terms and privacy statement. Clarity retention varies by data type and project settings; recordings or heatmaps may persist after you withdraw consent. Withdrawal stops future optional collection on this website, not deletion of data already processed.
Downloads and purchases on Gumroad
Free downloads and purchases are completed on Gumroad, a separate service. When you follow a Gumroad link, Gumroad processes the information you submit, including email and payment information, under its own policies. Tokyo Grain does not receive your full payment-card details.
Children and changes to this notice
This site is intended for a general photography audience and is not directed to children under 18. We may update this notice when our services or legal obligations change. The latest revision date appears below.
